Vaishali Shroff

A Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2025 nominee for her YA creative nonfiction work ‘Taatung Tatung and Other Amazing Stories of India’s Diverse Languages’, Vaishali Shroff is an engineer turned award-winning author, illustrator, scriptwriter and columnist based in Mumbai. Over the last 15 years she has published over 350 stories in print and digital media. She loves writing about untold histories, unexplored places, unsung people, and unheard nonhumans.

Shroff has received many national and international awards for her work, including The Times of India AutHer Award 2023, and has been part of prestigious lists including The White Ravens International List 2023, and the Parag Honour List 2025.  Her recent works include ‘Submerged Worlds and Other Amazing Stories of India’s

Mighty Rivers’, ‘10 Indian Scientists Whose Extraordinary Work You May Not Know’, ‘Ganesh Pyne’s Twilight Dreams’ and ‘Viv and Panther Land on Mars’. She has also written the script for the first ever short film on Indian dinosaurs, ‘Rajasaur – The Movie’, produced and directed by an LA-based filmmaker. She prefers children over adults, chai over coffee and chocolate over everything else.
