Rachna Bisht-Rawat is mom to a sixteen-year-old aspiring pilot and wife to a happy-go-lucky Army officer. She enjoys reading, writing, music, going for long walks and putting her feet up on the desk watching the rain fall; though not necessarily in that order. The Statesman, Indian Express, Deccan Herald, Outlook, Discover India and Femina are a few publications that she has written for. She has worked with newspapers including Delhi Mid Day, The Statesman, Financial Express and Indian Express. Rachna is a Harry Britain Fellow, 2005. Her first short story Munni Mausi was a Highly Commended winner in the 2008-09 Commonwealth Short Story Competition. She has written three books for Penguin Random House. These include the The Brave – Param Vir Chakra Stories, 1965 and Shoot, Dive, Fly which introduces young people to a career in the Indian Army.
