Chatura Rao is a children’s and adult fiction author, a journalist, and a teacher. Her books for children include The Case of Disappearing Colour, Growing Up in Pandupur (co-written with Adithi Rao), Nabiya, Music for Joshua and Only Fools Go to School. Her newest picture book is called Sweet Shop Wars (Penguin Duckbill, 2022). The Hindu Good Books award for Best Picture Book 2017, was awarded to her book, Gone Grandmother. Laadli Awards for Gender Sensitive Reporting were awarded to her long form reportage in Women and the Trouble Within/Without Homes and School of Hard Knocks in 2017 and 2020. Chatura has taught narrative making at the Srishti-Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bengaluru. She works as a communications specialist for various organisations, and continues to teach and write.
