Akshay Gandhi is a theatre artist & practitioner, collaborating with artists in various disciplines to create performances. An alumni of Saratoga International Theatre Institute, New York and BITS-Pilani, he has also received extensive training with Indian Ensemble & Veena Basavarajaiah in theatre and movement arts. He is a recipient of prestigious Tata Scholar Grant and BITSAA 30u30 award for his work in performing arts. His recent work includes, Mahesh Dattani’s “Clearing the Rubble” & “Kaavad Katha” in India; Charles Mee’s “Adam & Evie” & “No Place” in New York, USA.His primary performance research is an investigation into classical performance practices with his collaborators: Sajan Sankaran (Dhrupad music) & Anand Satheendran (Kathakali Dancer) through the post-modern practice of Viewpoints along with his work in Kaavadkatha tradition.
