Frances Hardinge

Frances Hardinge landed her first publishing contract on the strength of her manuscript that her friend Rhiannon Lassiter passed on to Macmillan. This came out as the novel, Fly By Night. It won the 2006 Branford Boase Award. Her seventh book, The Lie Tree, a Victorian murder mystery, went on to win the prestigious Costa Book of the Year 2015 Award and the 2016 Boston Globe/Horn Book Fiction Award, as well as the UKLA Book Awards (12-16 years category) and the LA Times Book Award for Young Adult Literature.

While her most recent novel, Deeplight, has been nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2021, Frances Hardinge has been nominated for the 2021 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for her rich contribution to children’s literature.
