Through ‘A Match Made in Mehendi’, the Indian Author, Nandini Bajpai, introduces us to Simran Sangha, a passionate artist with just the right amount of ‘desi’ starting sophomore year at Mayfield High School. On one particular occasion, Simi set up her cousin with à new acquaintance, but this took a turn when her family began to think that she has inherited the talent of matchmaking and can join them in their family business. Simran’s passion lies in art and only art, but in an attempt to get more recognized at school, her best friend coaxes her into trying her hand at matchmaking through an anonymous app. The app takes off, but the creators aren’t anonymous anymore! Will this result in Simran finally getting noticed, or will she have bitten off more than she can chew?
This book gives us an insight into an average high schooler’s life; trying to find love, making friends, standing up to bullies, and enjoying life. It makes people think about how true passion and talent shape us and helps us get through life, and above all, the importance of surrounding yourself with love.
This book is a light read but will keep you hooked, as you join Simi on her journey of discovering herself
