Mala Kumar is an independent editor and writer who loves to engage with children of all ages through her writings, and through interactions in classrooms and bookish events. Her first book for middle-graders Up the Mountains of India was shortlisted for the Atta Galatta – Bangalore Literature Festival Children’s Non-fiction Award.
In Travelling Treasures and Travelling Treasures 2.0, she presents the incredible tales behind everyday objects. In The Missing Rocks of Hampi she fuses history, mystery, water wisdom and present-day challenges. Her other books include Crazy Mazy’s Maths Puzzles, dozens of picture books and a biography of Sir M Visvesvaraya. Formerly an editor with the multi-lingual publisher Pratham Books, Mala enjoys talking to children, dogs, cats and plants.
