Tara Gandhi is a nature conservationist who was guided by Dr Sálim Ali for her M.Sc in Zoology with specialisation in Field Ornithology. She worked for biodiversity conservation with many organisations in India and abroad and has conducted status studies of Indian wildlife protected areas including in remote islands of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep.
She enjoys documenting wildlife near her home and wherever travels. Currently, Tara Gandhi is Vice-Chair of the Wildlife Trust of India and serves on the committees of BNHS-India, Madras Naturalists’ Society and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-M). The author of books on ecology, scientific and popular articles, Tara is the editor of anthologies of Dr.Sálim Ali’s writings and his radio talks.
