Sharanya Manivannan began to write at the age of 7. Today, she is the author of five books, including the award-winning short story collection The High Priestess Never Marries and the forthcoming novel The Queen of Jasmine Country. The Ammuchi Puchi, a magical tale about bereavement and healing, is her first book for children. She is also a poet, and was specially commissioned to write and perform a poem at the 2015 Commonwealth Day Observance in London, to an audience comprised of almost 2000 schoolchildren as well as Queen Elizabeth II. Sharanya grew up in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, and lives in Chennai. On most days, she is exactly who she wanted to grow up to be.
