Samhita Arni

Samhita Arni has been passionate about retelling mythology in contemporary cultural contexts since childhood. She has authored four books, beginning at age 11 with The Mahabharata — A Child’s View, published in over seven languages and selling over 60,000 copies.

Her second book, Sita’s Ramayana, a collaboration with artist Moyna Chitrakar, became a New York Times Bestseller. The Missing Queen is a spec-fi mythological thriller based on the Ramayana, and The Prince, a historical fiction set in the Sangam era, won the 2020 Neev Book Award.

As an adult, Samhita explores the critical ways women participate in and are excluded from mythological and historical narratives. She also an educator and is retraining as a psychologist, aiming to reimagine stories that shape more liberating identities for ourselves and our children.
