Before writing award-winning children’s books, Piers Torday worked as a producer in theatre and television, helping other people tell stories. His first children’s book, The Last Wild, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, with a stage adaptation due to premiere in 2027. Its sequel, The Dark Wild, won the 2014 Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, and was followed by The Wild Beyond and The Wild Before.

His other books include There May Be A Castle, The Lost Magician, The Frozen Sea, and Letters to a Dog. Midnight Treasure is the first part of a brand-new fantasy duology (with Wolf Crown) about vampirs, werwolves, and treasure.

Piers’ latest book is Tree Thing. He is also currently working on his next book, but he spends most of his time wrangling his very naughty but adorable dog, Huxley.
