Aparna Karthikeyan is an author, independent journalist and senior fellow, People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI). She has written five books for children: Cat’s Egg (Karadi Tales), Kali Wants to Dance (Pratham Books), Woof! Adventures by the Sea (Red Panda), No Nonsense Nandhini (Karadi Tales-PARI collaboration) and Looking for Laddoo (Karadi Tales). She has produced text articles, photo essays and video documentaries for various platforms, including The Hindu, PARI, The Caravan, The Wire and Scroll. Her non-fiction book, Nine Rupees an Hour (Context) documents ten disappearing livelihoods of Tamil Nadu. Aparna lives with her family and two dogs in Chennai, the city she calls home.
