The book Hungry to Play is written by Arti Sonthalia and illustrated by Samidha Gunjal. I chose this book because I could relate to the title and blurb and it sparked my curiosity to read the story. I read the book in one go as it kept me engaged throughout. The book is simple and easy to read. The storyline is amazing with good descriptions and use of transitions. I especially enjoyed the exclamations and dialogues. The illustrations are very nicely done and I loved the surprise sketches above each chapter title that gives the reader a hint as to what the chapter is about.
Hungry to Play is about a boy named Kabir who loves to play. He was not doing well academically, however, while his sister Mira was getting good grades. Read the book to find out how he overcomes his fear of Maths and balances it with his love for Tennis. He also has to deal with his opponent Neel and the pressure of school tests.
I enjoyed reading the book and could relate to the story as I have also gone through something similar. I love drama, dance and art and was not great at reading and writing. However my teacher Miss Bhoomija inspired me to write and taught me some tips and tricks that made me enjoy it and now I am writing book reviews! After reading this book I know that I can balance my academics with my passion for arts.
I would recommend this book to my classmates and friends.
