Venita Coelho works with images, words, and paint. She is a writer who has worked in film, television, and literature. She has ten published books to her credit. These include ‘Boy No. 32’ which won The Hindu GoodBooks award for best fiction for children in 2020, and ‘Dead as a Dodo’ which won The Hindu Award GoodBooks for best fiction for children in 2016. ‘All of Me’ won the Peekabook Children’s Choice award in 2020. ‘Washer of the Dead’ was long-listed for the Frank O’Connor award. As an artist, she works with charcoal and with acrylic paint on glass. Venita Coelho lives in an old Portuguese house in Goa with eight dogs. The pandemic has put a pause on her great adventure – having converted a Tempo traveler into a caravan, she and her daughter have been traveling across India in stages.
